The Beauty Looks At Paris Fashion Week Remix The French Girl Aesthetic
It seems this season, the makeup teams at Paris Fashion Week sought inspiration from the city itself. At the Spring/Summer 2022 shows we’ve seen thus far, the beauty looks appear to heavily reference the classic French girl aesthetic, albeit with an air of post-pandemic frivolity and panache.
From the staple French red lip to an effortlessly fresh complexion, here are the beauty looks that remix the fashion capital’s signature style.
Dior: Eyeliner à Deux
Black eyeliner is quintessentially Parisian, but this season Dior doubled down. Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, gave the staple French look a Sixties twist, elongating and emphasizing the eyes with dual black graphic winged liner – c’est magnifique.
Saint Laurent: Red Lips
At Saint Laurent, models wore scarlet pouts in a deep red hue. The application was precise but soft, with the edges subtly defined and slightly blurred, following the ‘undone’ French sensibility.
Victoria/Tomas: Fresh Face
Trademark French insouciance typically dictates minimal makeup but a flawless complexion, which was reflected in the makeup seen on the Victoria/Tomas runway. A touch of gloss along the cheeks, lips and lids dressed up the simple base with a hint of evening shimmer.
Koche: Inverse Eyeliner
Black liner was given another update at Koche, with an exaggerated flick along the outer corner of the eyes. Extra eyeliner was then applied to the oft-neglected inner corner, via an artistic inverse outline.
