Review: Filorga Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkle Correction Cream

I started using the Filorga Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkle Correction Cream a couple of months ago, when I ran out of a day cream. It does not say if it’s a day or night cream, and to be honest, I don’t usually pay attention to labels like that, if it does not contain ingredients that should only be used in the evening e.g. retinol.

I’m almost through with my tub of Time-Filler, and only just remembered that I have not shared some thoughts about it. The reason it struck me that I should, is because I really enjoyed using the Filorga Time-Filler cream, and I do think that it is a good product, even if you don’t have wrinkles to correct 🙂

Filorga Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkle Correction Cream

Filorga is a French pharmacy brand of anti-aging skincare that is inspired by aesthetic medicine. I was first introduced to it by a fellow European skincare blogger, who sent me some samples of their favourite product to try. I was very pleased therefore, when I learnt that it’s entered our Malaysian market, because I do think that their products are worth the money.

Filorga Time-Filler is one of their bestselling wrinkle correction creams, which claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to half in 2 months. It does this in 4 ways:

  • Reduces dynamic wrinkles using a tripeptide to relax the features without freezing facial expressions, inspired by botox injections
  • Reduces and plumps deep wrinkles with a powerful peptide combined with encapsulated hyaluronic acid, inspired by filler injections
  • Reduces surface wrinkles with a resurfacing active ingredient to smooth micro-cracks in the skin, inspired by skin peels
  • Reduces dehydration wrinkles using a water-retaining plant extract, inspired by biorevitalization

Essentially, what the Filorga Time-Filler does is to smoothen and plump up skin, so wrinkles appear less noticeable. They do this using peptides and niacinamide, and are inspired by results from aesthetic treatments.

What I appreciated was that they promised results after 2 months. I thought that was a very reasonable time frame after which to see results from regular use of the product. This is unlike products that promise results after 7 or 10 days – far too short for most.

The only problem I had with testing this product was that I don’t have very deep wrinkles on my skin from which to gauge results. What I do have is fine lines, which is normal for someone of my age (48 years), but I am fortunate to not have deep lines on my face.

That said, I have been using the Filorga Time-Filler cream for over 2 months, and I can safely say that my skin has been nothing short of awesome! This is of course with my regular serums, so I cannot and will not attribute results to this product 100%.

Luxurious Gel-Cream texture

The Filorga Time-Filler is tailored for those with mature, dry skin, and the texture of the cream reflects this. It is a gel-cream texture that is light, but also emollient.

At first instance, I felt that the cream was a little heavy. While you can use this both day and night (and I have), I prefer to use it in the day, as I found it a little light for night use. It does seem oxymoronic because I did say it felt ‘heavy’, but it was the texture that felt this way.

When I spread it over my skin, I find that it feels very comfortable, and keeps my skin moist. However, for use in the evening, I find it a little light, as I prefer something more oily for the night. If you aren’t too fussed about texture, or if you prefer something lighter than a heavy cream, then you could easily use this for both day and night without too much trouble.

I like how it takes a little while to sink into the skin, so I can massage it over my skin. I like that it leaves my skin feeling well moisturised, and I don’t experience any greasiness or oiliness at all.

Filorga warns that the product is concentrated, so you don’t need very much product. However, they don’t specify just how much to use each time.

What I do is use the 13-dot technique, which I find deposits just a wee bit much product on my skin, but I like that moist feeling, with a little excess product on the skin. It all sinks in beautifully, and makes a lovely base for makeup and sunscreen.

What results did I notice? Only smoother skin!

Remember I said I did not have serious wrinkles to address? I’m lucky I know 😛 So, I wasn’t expecting much. However, I did notice some results, especially on my neck.

In the time I have been using the Filorga Time-Filler as my day moisturiser, my skin seems to be smooth and supple. I do notice that my fine lines are less noticeable, although that is also attributed to regular use of Vitamin C and Retinol serums. However, I do believe that a combination of ingredients have helped my skin look and feel more lifted, firmer and smoother.

I have not been taking as good care of my neck as I should, and during this time, when I was actively applying my cream down my neck and decolletage area, I have noticed an improvement in the skin texture of my neck. It looks less lined, and feels smoother and more elastic – less loose, as it were.

As you age, the neck area is one area that shows your age more than your face will, if you don’t care for it, so it is important to also treat the skin of your neck as well as you do your face. I usually apply any remnants of my serums on my neck, and will always apply and spread a dollop of cream to moisturiser the skin. In the mornings, I apply a generous amount of sunscreen on my neck and chest area as well, for protection.

The results can be attributed to the peptides in the Filora Time-Filler. Peptides are strings of amino acids that help make up protein in our body, including collagen in our skin. They also help build elastic fibers, to help skin be firmer and more elastic.

What the Filorga Time-Filler cream is formulated with, is lots of peptides, and this is what’s working on the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and make it smoother and firmer. I was also using a cream with peptides in the night, and I do believe that these, in combination with my serums, have helped my skin look and feel better and maybe even more youthful 😛 After all, a mark of youthful skin is firm, elastic skin.

I do find that due to the texture of the Filorga Time-Filler cream, you may experience pilling with some foundations or sunscreens. I found that the Ultra Violette Lean Screen pills on my skin, but the Supreme Screen does not. I think it’s to do with the texture of the products that don’t play well with each other.

The other thing I’m not crazy about is the scent.

It isn’t too strong, nor is it terribly unpleasant. I find the scent to be a little fruity, and sometimes smells like green tea. However, I prefer my products to not be fragranced like this, so it’s something I notice. It does dissipate, so that’s fine.

If you don’t use as much product as I do, a jar of Filorga Time-Filler can last you quite a while, as the texture is very emollient and spreads easily. Also, not everyone likes the ‘wet’ feeling on skin as much as I do 😛

I think this is a great cream, especially if you have dry mature skin that needs a little TLC. It is a little pricey, but not much more than a luxury brand that may not be half as effective. I personally feel that this is a cream that is worth trying, if wrinkles are a concern – what do you have to lose, really? 🙂

IN A NUTSHELL

The Filorga Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkle Correction Cream is a rather heavy gel-cream textured moisturiser that you can use day and/or night, depending on how comfortable you feel. It contains peptides as their key ingredient, to boost collagen and elastin production, so skin feels smoother and firmer. This also reduces the appearance of wrinkles. I was unable to test the wrinkle reduction claims, but I did notice that in the 2 months or so that I was using the cream, my skin feels smooth and supple, and the skin on my neck looks smoother and firmer. I like the texture of the cream, which spreads easily. You don’t have to use much product, due to the texture, but it helps to use a sufficient amount, for which I find the 13-dot technique helpful. I do find that a little does go a long way, so a tub of cream can last quite a while, especially when used only in the day or night, as I do. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed using this cream and it’s something I’m happy to keep in my routine, were I not as fickle.

Have you tried this Filorga Time-Filler cream or any Filorga products?

While I won’t consider Filorga the most affordable of skincare products, I do find them to be effective for their price, as compared to something else a little more pricey. My experience with the brand over the years has been very positive, and I’m happy to be able to get it locally, because it deserves more attention than it gets! 🙂
