ONE person has been injured after gunfire erupted in the food court of a shopping center.
The shooting unfolded at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Tuesday afternoon.
More than a dozen officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department rushed to the mall’s food court entrance shortly after 2pm.
Officials said one person was shot but did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
An employee at Hot Topic told Journal Now that the shooting occurred near a kiosk outside the store.
The worker told the outlet there was a bullet hole in the front of the store.


The WSPD assured residents and mall-goers that was no active shooter threat in the area.
According to WXII 12, an announcement was made on the mall intercom warning of the shooting.
Cops have said that it is still an active scene with officers sweeping the mall.
One person is also in custody, according to a Spectrum News reporter.
