An 18-year-old man faces charges of sexual battery as Carlsbad detectives seek other women he may have groped at a shopping mall over the past year, California police say.

Officers arrested Brandon Cabrera of Carlsbad on Friday, May 6, at The Shoppes at Carlsbad mall with the help of mall and store employees, police said in a news release.

In incidents in May 2021 and February, Cabrera came up behind women shopping at the mall and groped them before running away, police said.

On May 2, Cabrera followed a woman into the parking lot and groped her as she got into her vehicle, police said. The woman chased Cabrera, but he escaped.

Police ask that anyone else who may have been a victim of Cabrera call detective Dzung Luc at 442-339-2173 or email [email protected].

The Shoppes at Carlsbad has 91 stores and restaurants. Carlsbad, a city in San Diego County, has a population of nearly 115,000.
