Fashion Girls Are Way Into This Perfume Trend (and It’s Here to Stay)

“Organic” and “natural” are terms that get thrown around a lot. They’re mentioned in terms of food as well as skincare, makeup, and fragrances. Yes, perfumes can be classified as “natural.” A 2010 report from the Environmental Working Group found that some fragrance manufacturers “don’t disclose that many scents are actually a complex cocktail of natural essences and synthetic chemicals—often petrochemicals.” The reason for the secrecy is a 1973 act that requires companies to list cosmetics ingredients on product labels but leaves out fragrance.

It’s a little unsettling to think that some of your favorite scents might contain some not-so-great chemicals, but luckily, there are so many brands out there that are more transparent about their ingredients and are focusing on natural ingredients. These new options make it easier to find something you wouldn’t mind spraying on your body every day.
