CFDA and IMG Release Spring 2022 FashionCalendar
After two seasons of “attending” digital shows behind our illuminated screens, New York Fashion Week is set to have a glorious return to in-person shows come this September. To say we‘re looking forward to the season would be an understatement. We‘re on the very edge of our chairs, carefully marking our calendars and counting down the days (44, to be exact) until the shows are here, occuring on September 8–12.
The fashion crowd will be joyfully reunited with their fellow fashion enthusiasts, while designers will get to present their collections on an IRL runway, and of course, we‘ll be met with some fantastic street style moments. After all this time away, even the thought of the notorious elevator lines at Spring Studios undoubtedly brings a joyful tear to my eyes.
To boost our excitement even more, today, the official fashion calendar was released by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in partnership with IMG. If you‘ve eyed the calendar in fashion weeks past, you know the two are known for releasing two separate schedules that sometimes add or take away a day. However, according to an official statement shared with GRAZIA, “CFDA and IMG are working hand in hand to organize New York Fashion Week.“
Celebrating the much-anticipated return of in-person fashion shows, NYFW will bring some of American fashion‘s biggest names back to the city‘s calendar that we’ve missed oh-so-much. Both Altuzzura and Thom Browne will return after showing in Paris for the past three years as a part of the new fashion alliance. Telfar and Peter Do, two talented designers who have been buzzing over the pandemic, will equally be making their official debut on the calendar come September.
If you’re still wondering what to reasonably expect come September, look to Pyer Moss’s Couture show earlier this month for a hint. We aren’t expecting these designers to hold back one bit when it comes to creativity. Telfar just may trek us out to a rager in a Bushwick warehouse, while the Rodarte sisters may take us to a physical chapel for their whimsical collection. Whatever it may realistically be, we’re ready to experience it all.
The only thing left to do is start planning our looks (Which we have some excellent celeb inspo for.) NYFW officially kicks off with Ulla Johnson on Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. and closes with Tom Ford on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. We’ll see you there!
